It’s a wonderful time to be a child of God at First Baptist Church of Oak Island!
It is the mission of the Children’s Ministry programs at First Baptist Church of Oak Island to follow the example set by Jesus in Luke 2:52 and shepherd children as they grow in wisdom, in stature, and in favor with God and man. Weekly programs are designed to help children learn about the Bible, about how God and His Word relate to us, and about individuals in our community and around the world who are answering God’s commission to make disciples of all nations. Weekly event times mirror those of adult programs so children can learn in a setting geared to them while preserving family time. Monthly events and outings are designed to help our church family and individual families grow together as they learn about God’s word, to provide opportunities to serve others in our community, our state, our nation, and around the world, and to help each individual develop a deeper relationship with our Creator as we explore the world around us. Annual events are opportunities for our church to intentionally reach out in service to our community and welcome others to be a part of our congregation. All God’s children are welcome at every Children’s Ministry event, regardless of how many birthdays you’ve celebrated.
We will have our annual March Missions Madness on Saturday, March 14, from 9:00-noon. We will work on projects that help our community, our state, our nation, and the world!
9:45- Sunday School- Classes are available for all ages birth to adult. Students are grouped by age with about 2 grade levels per class. Babies and preschoolers have separate classes as well.
11:00- Children’s Church- Children age 4 through 3rd grade begin the worship hour in the sanctuary, then exit as a group to Children’s Church at a designated time mid-worship. Using the Curriculum, children learn about our relationship to God, how we can relate to people from Bible times, and how we use the Bible as a guidebook for life.
6:00-7:00- TeamKID- Ages 4- 6th Grade- The TeamKID motto is “Learning about God, Using the Bible, Living for Jesus”.
Each week, children learn a Bible story, meet a missionary, and then participate in games and activities that help them
relate to the lessons those individuals teach us. Most importantly, our TeamKID time helps us better understand the
relationship we have with God and how it impacts the way we relate to one another.
Monday (September- May)
Wednesday (September- May)
6:00- Family Meal- Our church family gathers before Wednesday evening missions and ministry programs to break bread together. Cost is $5 for adults, free for children.
6:30- Children’s Bible Study- Children in 1st through 6th grades gather to study the Bible together. At present, we are studying heroes from Genesis. We work together to understand the lessons those heroes teach, how their stories relate to the big picture story of the Bible, and how we can relate their lesson to our everyday lives. Students work to write the Word of God on their hearts by memorizing key scriptures. We play games and complete crafts to further illustrate the stories we read. We also use this time to learn the books of the Bible as well as the Bible’s divisions.

Serve in September
We had a great time serving members of our community, our state, our nation, and the world. We packed bags of rice, helped folks load cars, unloaded donations, and bagged eggs at the BSL food pantry. We made non-slip socks for nursing home residents, tied blankets for disaster victims, and created 10 blessing buckets for Hurricane Dorian victims in the Bahamas. Thank you to everyone who came out to serve!

March Missions Madness!
We met for an evening of reaching out and helping others, starting with a light supper and then working on projects that help those in need in our community, our state, our country, and around the world. We created non-slip socks for local nursing home residents, blankets for disaster victims, and chicken boxes (in lieu of piggy banks) for the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering to support the North American Mission Board.
