Mission Trips

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all of Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

Here at FBCOI we paraphrase Acts 1:8 this way, “Let’s Go! On Mission to Our Town, Their Town, and Every Town.”

We strive to live this passage out in the life of the church through mission giving and going. This church has for many years participated in different mission offerings during the year. We give to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missionaries and the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missionaries. We also give to the NC State Missions Offering in September which helps support mission efforts of NC Baptist.

Going means that we make mission trips available to our congregation on a regular basis. Currently we hare involved in a partnership with church planters in the

Boston, Mass. area. In this partnership we are working with True Vine Church in Saugus, Mass. Last summer we conducted a sports camp in the Saugus community to promote the church’s Vacation Bible School.

Internationally we are working on several projects in Kenya, Africa. We have built houses through the “Houses of Hope Ministry”, we have taught baseball in high schools, sponsored a water well project and taught in the Kenya Baptist Theological College in Kisumu. Our goal is to take one trip to Kenya each year.
