Associate Pastor of Next Generation and Outreach

First Baptist Church of Oak Island is prayerfully seeking a full-time Associate Pastor of Next Generation and Outreach.

We are looking for a biblically qualified, gospel-centered man who is passionate about reaching the next generation, preaching God’s Word, making disciples, and helping strengthen the overall ministry of the church.

This pastor will help lead and develop ministry to the next generation, with special attention given to children, students, college-age young adults, and young families. He will also help advance the church’s mission through evangelistic outreach, preaching, leadership development, and administrative support.

He should be a man who can build relationships, communicate the gospel clearly, equip leaders, and work closely with the senior pastor to carry out the church's mission.

The man we are seeking should:

  • Demonstrate a clear testimony of salvation and a calling to pastoral ministry

  • Meet the biblical qualifications for a pastor

  • Affirm sound doctrine and the authority of Scripture

  • Have a heart for evangelism and disciple-making

  • Be able to preach and teach Scripture faithfully and clearly

  • Love the next generation and relate well to children, students, college-age adults, and families

  • Lead with humility, conviction, warmth, and initiative

  • Be capable of organizing ministry and helping administratively

  • Work well with staff, volunteers, parents, and church leaders

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight to next generation ministries

  • Help the church reach children, students, college-age young adults, and young families with the gospel

  • Develop and strengthen outreach efforts aimed at the next generation and the surrounding community

  • Build relationships with students, parents, families, and community contacts

  • Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteers and ministry leaders

  • Help create clear pathways for evangelism, discipleship, and assimilation

  • Preach and teach as needed in various church settings

  • Assist the senior pastor in pastoral leadership and church administration

  • Support the church’s mission of making disciples of all generations

Preferred Strengths and Experience

  • Experience in student ministry, college ministry, outreach, or pastoral ministry

  • Ability to connect with both younger generations and parents

  • A heart for the local church, not just event-driven ministry

  • Administrative skill, follow-through, and leadership maturity

  • A desire to serve as part of a team and help strengthen the whole church

Summer Children’s Ministry Intern

First Baptist Church of Oak Island | Oak Island, North Carolina
Internship Length: 4 Months

First Baptist Church of Oak Island is seeking a Summer Children’s Ministry Intern for a four-month internship. This is an opportunity for a college student, ministry student, or young adult who desires to grow in ministry experience and help serve children and families during the busy summer season.

The Summer Children’s Ministry Intern will assist with children’s ministry programming, outreach events, volunteer support, family engagement, and weekly ministry preparation. This internship is designed to provide hands-on ministry experience, personal growth, and practical exposure to local church leadership.

Purpose of the Internship

The purpose of this internship is to help strengthen the church’s ministry to children and families during the summer while also investing in the development of a young leader who is exploring ministry, teaching, discipleship, or church service.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Sunday and midweek children’s ministry

  • Help prepare lessons, activities, crafts, and ministry spaces

  • Support summer outreach events, camps, and family ministry activities

  • Assist with check-in, organization, volunteer coordination, and hospitality

  • Build relationships with children and families

  • Help communicate with parents as needed

  • Serve as a positive, joyful, and dependable presence in children’s ministry

  • Participate in staff meetings or ministry meetings as assigned

  • Assist with other ministry needs as appropriate during the summer

Qualifications

  • A growing relationship with Jesus Christ

  • A love for children and families

  • A teachable spirit and willingness to serve

  • Dependability, maturity, and a positive attitude

  • Ability to work well with ministry leaders, volunteers, and parents

  • Alignment with the mission and values of First Baptist Church of Oak Island

  • Ministry experience is helpful, but not required
